In this 2 minute Q&A Tuesday, we’re going over cash back credit cards. I was asked if I have a cash back credit card and which one I use. It is no surprise that I am not against using credit cards, if used properly. That is the first and most important step before looking into credit cards no matter how good the perks, points, or cashback.
Credit Card Guidelines
- Use your credit card like a debit card
- Pay off your balance every month
- Only swipe for budgeted items
- Don’t chase points or cashback
- Be purposeful with purchases
- Stay out of debt traps like lifestyle expenses
Now that we’ve covered the guidelines on using your credit card, let’s go over my cash back credit card. Now, I’ll be going over the American Express Blue Cash Preferred credit card. This card and now so many others are offering great perks for everyday purchases that help you stay on budget, spend less, and get rewarded for it.Â
Credit Card with Purpose
But before you go out and get a cash back credit card, make sure you get a card that promotes positive spending habits. A lot of cards want you to spend more and more money to collect point for points and cash back. I didn’t want that, I wanted to benefit from everyday purchases that flowed with my spending habits. By using the High-5 Banking Method, I separated my bills and lifestyle to avoid double dipping and going into debt. Going back to that to get points isn’t worth it. So, which credit card helps me get everything I want plus the option of getting cash back? American Express’s Blue Cash Preferred.
